This piece came from the lower trunk of a North Carolina Poplar. I began carving the basic
shape with various sized chainsaws while the wood was still green and wet. As the piece dried, it took its
natural course twisting and changing as I refined its shape with grinders and sanders, leaving some
areas to expose the deep chainsaw texture. The entire process took about 3 years of working and
waiting. The piece is finished with many applications of Danish Oil and repeated buffing with steel wool.
The Stool is sturdy, very comfortable and persuades the body to sit with little or no strain on your back.
